Wacky Reference Wednesdays, No. 310

HELLBOY AND THE B.P.R.D.: 1953 #3 page 17. 2016.
Photoshop (#kylebrush), 11 × 17″. Full Credits

I had to draw this scene from multiple angles on a couple pages (plus have the preceding action make spatial sense) so I made a crude maquette out of a kneaded eraser to help set the stage. This was one of the pages that was done completely in Photoshop, mostly with the "Rough Inker" from Kyle Brush.

MYTHOS. 2008. Gouache on bristol board, 11 × 17″.

It's always cool to see your work on the stands, but it's even cooler when you can't read it. The collected Mythos series will be published in Russian, and will include plenty of sketches and preliminary work as well. And a huge thanks to the translation team, who even changed the sound effects!

Wacky Reference Wednesdays, No. 308

Dr. Doom cape made by my Mamma

Okay, so technically this week's reference was from this cover, but I thought it was funny enough to share regardless. It was also the same character and series (and pose) so I'm going to count it. For those making a comprehensive Rivera creator checklist, I also drew the t-shirt I'm wearing in the photo — made for my brother-in-law's wedding.

BOOK OF DEATH #3. 2015.
